Yes, Even in the Summer, Hot Yoga Rocks!

Yogis!

With summer just around the corner, I wanted to share some of my favorite reasons to practice in the summertime.

Trust me, it’s a fantastic idea that can help you make the most out of the warm weather while taking care of your mind and body.

I know for some, this just sounds crazy.

But in my 23 years of chasing hot yoga around the world, I still find there’s nothing better than exiting the hot room, on a luscious summer day, with the sunshine on your sparkling skin, and the invincible feeling that you can do anything. Just makes whatever is next in your day even sweeter … and a bit spicier too! ????️

Firstly, let’s talk about the heat. While it may seem counterintuitive to engage in a heated practice when the weather is already warm, hot yoga offers unique benefits that make it worth considering. Especially at HYA with our incredible far-infrared heating system!

And since you’re already warm when you show up, you will drop into your class faster, compared to crawling in and defrosting for the first 20 minutes during the cold winter.

The elevated temperature in the studio allows your muscles to warm up more quickly, increasing your flexibility and range of motion. It’s like a natural, internal warm-up that promotes deeper stretches and helps you go further in your practice. Additionally in the heat, your blood will move more quickly throughout your body and aid in oxygenating your cells.

Hot yoga is an incredible way to detoxify and cleanse your body. Sweating is your body’s natural way of eliminating toxins, and in a hot yoga class, you’ll find yourself perspiring more than usual.

A study found that sweating plays an important role in expelling heavy metals like mercury, lead, cadmium, and arsenic from the body because they dissolve readily in water. Sweat can’t flush out all toxic compounds, so it’s important to drink filtered water and follow a healthy diet in order to avoid other low-dose chemical threats.*

It’s a refreshing and invigorating feeling, and as you sweat, your body releases impurities, leaving you feeling rejuvenated and revitalized.

One of the greatest advantages of hot yoga in summer (and sometimes this one is overlooked!) is that it encourages mindful hydration. As you practice, your body craves more water to compensate for the increased perspiration. Staying properly hydrated is essential, and it’s a habit that carries over into your daily life as well.

You’ll find yourself reaching for that water bottle more often, which is an excellent way to keep your body cool, maintain your energy levels, and support overall well-being. Don’t forget to fill up at the studio with the BEST Kangen Alkaline Ionized water – hydrate faster and soak up those antioxidants!

Moreover, hot yoga has wonderful mental and emotional benefits. Years ago our students came up with the tagline “I came for my body, I stayed for my mind” (Shannon, I think that was you!) Still one of the truest statements I’ve heard. So while warm environment helps to relax your muscles and get you sweating, we cultivate your parasympathetic nervous system after the storm (and throughout class). You leave with a calm mind, providing a soothing escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

This opportunity to immerse yourself in the present moment, focus on your breath, and let go of any stress or tension you may be carrying is here for you year round. The good feels you get combined with the physical practice creates a harmonious mind-body connection that can truly transform your life and unlock your best life.

Lastly, hot yoga offers a sense of community and camaraderie that is truly heartwarming. Sharing a class with like-minded individuals, sweating together, and encouraging one another can create lasting friendships and connections.

It’s an excellent way to meet new people and expand your social circle while embarking on a journey of personal growth and self-improvement.

So, my dear friend, why not give hot yoga a try this summer? Embrace the warmth, embrace the opportunity for growth, and embrace the joy that comes from taking care of yourself. I’m certain you’ll enjoy the experience and discover a new level of balance, both physically and mentally.

If you have any questions or would like some more tips, feel free to reach out to us. We’d be more than happy to help you embark on this fantastic adventure.

Wishing you a summer filled with warmth, happiness, and abundant wellness!

Warm regards,

Adi and the HYA team
