Important! Yoga Class Policies and Etiquette

By March 20, 2025March 31st, 2025No Comments

At HYA, we strive to create a welcoming and supportive environment for all our practitioners. To ensure a smooth experience for everyone, we’ve outlined some essential policies and etiquette guidelines for class participation. Please take a moment to read through them before your next visit!

Class Registration and Payment

  1. Register and Prepay: To secure your spot, please register and prepay for your class.
  2. Registration Opens: Class registration opens 48 hours in advance.
  3. Cancellation Policy: If you need to cancel, please do so at least 3 hours before class to avoid a $5 late cancel fee.

Timeliness and Entry

  1. Be On Time: Timeliness is crucial! Late entry will not be permitted, as it disrupts the class flow. If you are late and there is a waitlist, your spot may be forfeited.
  2. No Late Entry: If you arrive more than 5 minutes late, please choose another class time to join.
  3. Safeguard Your Valuables: Bring your valuables inside and keep them in the cubbies or locked in your car trunk, hidden from view. HYA is not responsible for lost or stolen items, so err on the safe side.

Required Equipment

  1. Yoga Mat and Towel: All students are required to bring a yoga mat and a full-size towel for hot yoga classes. These items can also be rented or purchased at the front desk.
  2. Stay Hydrated: Bring water or fill up in our lobby. We offer alkaline, ionized, mineral-rich water. Please avoid glass containers.

Studio Etiquette

  1. Use the Cubbies: Please leave personal belongings (keys, bags, phones, shoes, jackets) in the cubbies. Do not take them into the yoga room.
  2. Silence After Class: Respect the communal space by leaving quietly after class. Please refrain from talking during shavasana.
  3. Clean Your Area: Keep your used tissues under your towel on your mat. Consider bringing an extra towel to wipe down your practice area, just like you would at the gym.

Communication and Respect

  1. Inform Your Teacher of Injuries: Please let your instructor know about any injuries before class starts. This allows them to offer modifications if necessary.
  2. Take Breaks if Needed: If you need to stop for any reason during class, sit or lie down on your mat. Taking a break is a sign of strength—honor what your body needs.
  3. Breathe Deeply: Remember, your nose acts as a filter. Breathing through your nose can calm the nervous system and help regulate your movements.

Early Departures and Community

  1. Notify Your Teacher: If you must leave early, please inform your instructor before class begins. We want to ensure your well-being.
  2. Love Your Neighbor: Be respectful of others. Avoid stepping on their mats, make space for your fellow yogis, and share a smile or greeting. We thrive on connection and community.

Creating a Safe Haven

Help us maintain a safe and welcoming studio environment. Share your experiences with fellow practitioners and greet newcomers warmly. Remember, we all remember our first hot yoga class, and a friendly welcome goes a long way!
