Backbending Your Entire Spine with Jared McCann with Jared McCann

This 2.5 hour yoga workshop focuses on backbending techniques designed to heal, open, and strengthen your entire spine. Jared has developed a special sequence of postures, which will allow students to better understand and open their spines.The workshop begins with a strong vinyasa sequence that includes abdominal exercises, standing postures, and inversions. After the warm up, we will flow into basic backbending postures with an interactive lecture focusing on alignment. The lecture will focus on the lower, middle, upper, and neck spine. Jared will teach students to use all aspects of their spine so that students feel confident and safe in their backbending practice. The workshop ends with exercises that unwind the spine, savasana, and meditation.

This class is designed for all levels. Beginners are welcome!

About Backbending
Backbending is a healing practice. The compression of vertebral discs brings blood and nutrients to the spine, and allows practitioners to keep their spine healthy as they age. Backbending stimulates the nervous system and opens the front of the body, generating energy and emotional awareness.

JM Warm Vinyasa and Kriya Yoga with Jared McCann

This is Lighthouse Yoga School’s signature open level vinyasa class. Jared McCann Vinyasa classes aim to break attachments, create energy, vitality, and purify both mind and body. Breathing becomes a meditation and is utilized to create space from the inside out. Teachers focus on creating balance with the body’s strength and flexibility. JM Vinyasa aims to clear blockages in the central channel, speaking to the major Chakras in the body.

Jared’s class blends many styles of yoga including Ashtanga, Bikram, Iyengar, Forrest, and Dharma yoga. JM Vinyasa aims to bridge gaps in yoga traditions, allow practitioners to learn from all styles and not just one. Every class includes standing postures, hip openers, backbends, forward bends, twists, and inversions. Classes can also include chanting, a short kriya or meditation. All levels are welcome.

Kriya Yoga:

The Kriya yoga system consists of varying levels of pranayama, mantra, and mudra based techniques whose goal is to accelerate the natural progression of Divine Consciousness. Teachers who lead this practice utilize Kriyas from the Yogi Bhajan, Yogi Babaji, and Kundalini (Sikh) traditions. The goal of Kriya yoga is to create energy and balance in each individual’s central channel, utilizing the Chakra system. All levels welcome.

Inversion Workshop with Jared McCann with Jared McCann

Students will learn proper shoulder techniques, focal points, and will utilize their bandhas to deepen control and strength during their inversion. Although inversions seem intimidating, this workshop is designed for all levels, and will utilize tools and variations that allow every student to face the fear and disorientation of being upside down. All levels welcome.

About Inversions
Inversion postures develop muscular strength, and allow for increased blood flow to the brain. A variety of fun arm balancing transitions will be part of the workshop, and are designed to support and strengthen the entire body.
